Natural gas rates continue to rise

January 1, 2015 - Natural gas rates have continued to increase. The new rates were posted by the OEB with Enbridge customers paying a rate of $0.183 per cubic metre.

This follows the 40% interim increase that occurred in April of last year, due to extreme cold weather conditions. In 2014, an increased demand caused the utility to purchase gas at a higher rate to make up for a shortage of supply in the province. The result - rise in price for natural gas customers.

With the severe cold weather we have experienced as of late, a similar increase is possible later this year. Stay tuned for more information.
